Good press-ons can last 1-2 weeks with the right prep — most of what makes them fall off early happens before you even apply the nail.
Prep matters more than the glue
Push back cuticles, lightly buff the shine off your natural nail, and wipe with rubbing alcohol to remove oils. Skipping this step is the #1 reason press-ons pop off within a day or two.
Getting the size right
- Test-fit every tip before opening the glue — sizing them under pressure leads to mistakes.
- When in doubt, size down slightly rather than up; a slightly narrow nail can be filed, a too-wide one will lift at the edges.
- Apply glue to both the tip and your natural nail, press down at an angle, then hold flat for 15-20 seconds.
Making them last
- Avoid water for the first hour after application
- Wear gloves for dishes and cleaning
- Apply cuticle oil around (not on) the nail edges daily to prevent lifting
